National Finals: April 13-15, 2024
Prepare to be amazed as high school students from across the nation showcase their knowledge of the U.S. Constitution and American government. Now in its fifth decade, the National Finals serves as an exciting finale to students' We the People educational journey. The competition utilizes Simulated Congressional Hearings and typically features 48 teams, each representing their respective states.

Information for Judges & Volunteers
As a volunteer, you play a vital role in making our event a success by ensuring everything runs smoothly and providing a positive experience for participants. We truly appreciate your commitment! Below are important details you need to know:

Volunteer Roles
- Timers/Facilitators will accompany judge panels and ensure they arrive at each hearing room on time. They are responsible for collecting and delivering score sheets. They will run a stopwatch during each hearing based on the time limit for the opening statement and follow-up questions.
- The Registration/Information Crew will greet other volunteers and guests, provide them with appropriate materials, point them in the right direction, answer practical questions, and be warm and helpful.
- The Set-Up Crew helps us prepare the venue for showtime by arranging and placing signage and helping organize event materials for teachers, guests, and other volunteers. These volunteers will help prep for evening and awards events during the competition. Afterward, they will help us pack up.
- Floor Supervisors are responsible for overseeing the smooth flow of foot traffic on the days of the competition. They will help direct students and guests to hearing rooms, changing rooms, restrooms, and other amenities.
Orientation Session
- Before the event, volunteers and judges will receive training and orientation that covers safety procedures, communication channels, and other relevant information about their roles.
- All judges and volunteers are expected to arrive at the National Conference Center by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, April 12th, to attend the orientation at 5:00 p.m.
Schedule
- Volunteers and judges will work two half-day sessions, one on Saturday, April 13th, and another on Sunday, April 14th. These sessions will be held from approximately 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. or 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
- A smaller group will assist with the final round of competition on Monday, April 15th. You will receive an email with your morning or afternoon shift assignment details.
Attire and Badge
- Volunteers serving in public-facing roles are required to wear business casual attire. However, Set-Up Crew members may dress casually for ease of movement.
- We will provide all volunteers and judges with an ID badge upon arrival, which you must wear throughout the competition.
Special Benefits for Judges and Volunteers
- The Center for Civic Education will provide volunteers with accommodations at the National Conference Center and meals during the event.
- Volunteers are also welcome to attend a VIP event in their honor on Friday evening, April 12th. We will provide more details soon.
